Product development with LinoPro (Part 4): The construction phase

The approved model from the design phase is worked out into series-ready and production-ready individual parts. This actual design process is also done with a 3D CAD application, but with one for manufacturing and Simulation required high level of detail.

< 3rd step: The design phase

During this process, all the details necessary for production, assembly and transport, such as bores, screwed, plugged and welded connections, bending radii, overall dimensions, etc. are taken into account. These details can then be displayed on the production drawings, assembly plans or parts lists created from the 3D model.

In the planning process, the design office team decided to use PTC Creo Elements as the CAD application for creating 3D designs and drawings.

Step by step, the individual assemblies, production parts including connecting elements were developed, drive and control elements positioned and repeatedly compared with the overall concept.

The use of a grab to pick up the payload in particular posed a challenge for the design office team. It had to be light and safe, as well as load-resistant. For this reason, this assembly went through several design iterations and was further optimized in simulations.

This was followed by a motorized solution with mechanical fall protection. This additional resiliency ensures the position of the package during flight.
